We sit down with Sheridan, our Office Manager, for a cuppa and a chat. We explore what’s really at the heart of the Togetherness agency.
What is it that makes Cogent different to other agencies/places you have worked at? What drew you here?
The whole concept of ‘togetherness’ really shines through everyone who works at Cogent. The moment I stepped into the office for my interview I instantly felt at home and knew I had to get the job! Compared to my other jobs, Cogent has that real family feel without any hierarchical structure. One day I can be chilling at lunch with Bruce (CEO) and the next I will be mingling with Relationships – we are all pals!
Not only are the people who work here great, the office perks are awesome. Parking, flexi-working, free yoga sessions, mobile nail technician, office masseuse, free boxercise and so much more! Culture is a massive thing for me and Cogent really embodies that whole aspect. YAY!
What are your favourite things about being part of the team?
Where do I start! We have around 100 people who currently work at Cogent and my favourite thing about being part of the team is that if something amazing happens (win a pitch or hit our targets etc.), then it affects us all. We all come to work with one aim, to make Cogent the best possible agency in the Midlands and give our clients the best possible results. Teamwork really does make the dreamwork and there is no better feeling than knowing you are part of a wicked team.
At Cogent, there are a lot of incentives. What makes these so important?
“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results” – no one wants to come to work and do the same thing day in, day out – right? Everyday we are being challenged to be the best we can be. Won that new client pitch? Let’s celebrate with pizza and beers! Summer and Christmas parties paid for by Cogent every year…hell yeah I am going to work my socks off! Cogent’s incentives are the backbone of everyone who works here. The harder we work, the more we enjoy the benefits.
Do you have a motto or ethos that helps you in your everyday work as ‘heart of the agency’?
“If you want to go to fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together” It does not matter what Hive we are in, together anything is possible.
